In 2007, a Visioning Committee was formed to initiate a community engagement process for the redevelopment of the Alexandra Park neighbourhood.
The committee is Alexandra Park community residents, members of the Atkinson Housing Co-operative, the Alexandra Park Residents Association, Councillor Adam Vaughan, Toronto District School Board Trustee Chris Bolton, City of Toronto (Social Development, Finance and Administration), the Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto, the Community Social Planning Council of Toronto and Toronto Community Housing.
The mandate of the Committee is to collect residents’ concerns and priorities. Community animators were hired to conduct door-to-door surveys and focus groups. Based on the feedback, the Committee established 10 principles that will shape the revitalization of Alexandra Park.
