Join Shari Kasman for a tour of her Bloordale Beach exhibition.
Bloordale Beach existed in the Bloor and Dufferin area of Toronto’s west end from May 25, 2020 until September 23, 2021. A beach in that location may come as a surprise for someone familiar with the city’s geography, since that’s nowhere near a permanent body of water. The beach did, however, have a low point where water would collect after a heavy rainfall. Clearly, Bloordale Beach was not an ordinary beach.
Shari Kasman is a Toronto-based writer and multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses photography, satirical public art, and collaborative urban interventions like Parkdale Provincial Park. Her books include Goodbye, Galleria and Rocks Don’t Move and Other Questionable Facts. Through her projects, she explores the absurd, the overlooked, and the unofficial ways people reshape and reimagine the city.
