If These Walls Could Talk: The Ongoing Story of 401 Richmond

Since its creation, 401 Richmond Street West has been exceptional. Over the last century, its walls have harboured remarkable talent, fostered prosperous trade, and nurtured lasting friendships.

In Spring 2014, Urbanspace Property Group celebrates 20 years in this marvellous heritage building. In honour of this occasion, we share the stories, histories, and memories passed on from those who have walked these halls with us and before us. Over the years, we have collected articles and essays, personal accounts and treasured heirlooms, which together reveal a legacy of commerce, culture, and community at 401 Richmond.

Today, 401 Richmond is home to a thriving network of artists, designers, galleries, not-for-profits, and small enterprises, realizing a vision of affordability, diversity, and synergy in the urban core. Called “a village in a box”, over 140  offices, studios, galleries, and shops are currently located here. It is through the collaboration, dedication, and passion of all those who cherish this place, that 401 Richmond endures.
