The YES IN MY BACKYARD festival is back!
The YIMBY Festival’s focus is to create a fair-like atmosphere where people working or interested in citizen-based community development can gather to exchange ideas as well as strategies, and to celebrate the achievements of their respective organizations. This year for the one-day only event, we created a space online for Torontonians to meet and discuss their community work and initiatives, to share resources, and connect with community.
The opening talk of the YIMBY Festival was an introduction to our new program, EyeCity. EyeCity is a forum for exchanging ideas on global city building. The opening conversation with Lena Phillips, Sibonelo Gumede, and Tareq Khalaf from the Africa Centre for cities in Cape Town South Africa focused on the benefits of bringing an international lens to city building conversations about community engagement and activism.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the the YIMBY Festival and the first EyeCity talk by Urbanspace Gallery.
